Natural Healing at the Speed of Light

Life zone capsule stimulates and connects your senses.

Different perceptional dimensions blend into one holistic multisensory experience.

Hearing, seeing, feeling – Life zoene allows you to experience your senses not as separate sensations, but as a whole.
Colour, shape and light in unique combination with sound, vibrations and warmth lead to ultra-deep relaxation. You feel light and free, both physically and mentally. Rational and analytical thinking fade into the background. All feeling is directed towards your inner self. It opens up a space for a new experience of your self and the world.

As an optimal starting point with a reliable effect the tried and tested impressive Basic Programme (the blue programme) remains for you. New in our portfolio is the Sensitive programme – the pink programme, a soft composition for people in a sensitive and sentient state of mind. For those who on the contrary are looking for a particularly strong sensory impression, we recommend the ,,red” programme Intense, the slow, flowing programme – comparable to a meditation. As the first location in the world, Life zone also offers the ,,orange” programme Energy: the invigorating energy programme, to recharge your batteries.

Focusing on human senses it creates a whole body and mind experience for a simultaneous perception of sound, colour, light, vibration, touch, temperature and smell.

With four different programmes available, ranging from Basic Blue, Sensitive Violet, Intense Red, Energy Orange, there’s a host of benefits associated with the use of the  Life Zone.

LED Light Therapy involves the use of light emitting diodes (L.E.D.), also known as Low-Level Light Therapy (LLLT), delivering red, blue and infrared light to the body. These three wavelengths of light stimulate beneficial innate cellular responses including increased circulation, increased energy and the release of toxins from the cell.

Light Therapy Has Been Established as a Useful Medical Procedure To:

  • Increase vascularity
  • Stimulate the production of collagen
  • Stimulate the release of adenosine tri-phosphate (ATP)
  • Increase lymphatic system activity
  • Reduce the excitability of nervous tissue
  • Stimulate fibroblastic activity that aids in the repair process
  • Stimulate tissue granulation and connective tissue projections
  • Stimulate acetylcholine release
  • Release fat from the fat cells

The Life zone Capsule – Enter the Future of L.E.D. Light Therapy

The Light Therapy Capsule is the next generation of LED Light Therapy with its ability to
immerse the entire body with healing light.

Clinical studies and trials of laser and LED therapy technology indicate the following beneficial effects on tissues and cells:

  1. Accelerated Tissue Repair and Cell Growth. Photons of light from lasers penetrate deeply into tissue and accelerate cellular reproduction and growth. The laser light increases the energy available to the cell so that the cell can take on nutrients faster and get rid of waste products. As a result of exposure to laser light, the cells of tendons, ligaments and muscles are repaired faster.
  2. Faster Wound Healing. Laser light stimulates fibroblast development (fibroblasts are the building blocks of collagen, which is predominant in wound healing) in damaged tissue. Collagen is the essential protein required to replace old tissue or to repair tissue injuries. As a result, LT is effective on open wounds and burns.
  3. Reduced Fibrous Tissue Formation. LT reduces the formation of scar tissue following tissue damage from cuts, scratches, burns, surgery and sprain / strain injuries.
  4. Anti-Inflammation. Laser light therapy has an anti-inflammatory effect as it causes vasodilation, but also because it activates the lymphatic drainage system (drains swollen areas). As a result, there is a reduction in swelling caused by bruising or inflammation.
  5. Anti-Pain (Analgesic). Laser and light therapy has a high beneficial effect on nerve cells which block pain transmitted by these cells to the brain which decreases nerve sensitivity. Also, due to less inflammation, there is less edema and less pain. Another pain blocking mechanism involves the production of high levels of pain killing chemicals such as endorphins and enkephalins from the brain and adrenal glands.
  6. Improved Vascular Activity. Laser and light therapy will significantly increase the formation of new capillaries in damaged tissue that speeds up the healing process, closes wounds quickly and reduces scar tissue. Additional benefits include acceleration of angiogenesis, which causes temporary vasodilatation, an increase in the diameter of blood vessels.
  7. Increased Metabolic Activity. Laser and light therapy creates higher outputs of specific enzymes, greater oxygen and food particle loads for blood cells.
  8. Improved Nerve Function. Slow recovery of nerve functions in damaged tissue can result in numbness and impaired limbs. Laser light will speed up the process of nerve cell reconnection and increase the amplitude of action potentials to optimize muscle action.
  9. Immunoregulation. Laser light has a direct effect on immunity status by stimulation of immunoglobins and lymphocytes. LT is absorbed by chromophores (molecule enzymes) that react to laser light. The enzyme flavin mononucleotide is activated and starts the production of ATP (adenosine-tri-phosphate), which is the major carrier of cell energy and the energy source for all chemical reactions in the cells.
  10. Trigger Points and Acupuncture Points. Laser and light therapy stimulates muscle trigger points and acupuncture points on a non-invasive basis providing musculoskeletal pain relief.

Skin improvement has been placed in a new light. The secret lies in the skin-rejuvenating effect of the specially tailored light spectrum. Life Zone utilises pure coloured light that penetrates deeply into the skin. The regenerative mechanisms in the skin are given a boost, stimulating the production of collagen and elastin. The proteins are replenished and the skin’s fibre structure is renewed. Life Zone treatment enables the skin to restore itself and continuously  regenerate.

Pure relaxation

Life Zone is much more than just a skin improvement concept. It is a deliberate lifestyle choice and one that perfectly matches the ambition to achieve wellness and well-being. This mild, natural Seecret® skin improvement concept gives you a complete sense of well-being, resulting in healthy-looking skin that becomes and remains radiant. Life Zone enables your skin to rejuvenate itself continuously in a natural manner. The specially tailored light spectrum stimulates the production of collagen and elastin, which leads to visible improvement of the skin. Life Zone and experience the sensation of a healthy, attractive appearance. Only you know the secret…

Structure of the skin

Our skin consists of several layers. The protective outer layer is called the Epidermis or scarf skin. Beneath this is a deeper lying layer called the Dermis or true skin. It is this layer that gives the skin its strength; it consists of a dense structure of connective tissue containing collagen and elastin fibres that keep the skin firm and supple. As we grow older, the production of new cells diminishes, reducing the number of collagen and elastin fibres. As a consequence the skin gradually loses its elasticity, resulting in lines and wrinkles.

The Light

Approximately 45% of sunlight is visible light we can see with our eyes. In addition to visible light, sunlight also includes components we are hardly able to detect: ultraviolet (UV) and infrared (IR) light. Various scientific investigations have proved that visible light produces a number of responses in the skin. Infrared light, for example, is known to penetrate the skin deeply where, among other things, it improves the blood circulation. Collagen light falls within the colour spectrum of light and is yellow, orange and/or red. The colour spectrum is the bandwidth of light visible to the naked eye. It spans the range of wavelengths from approximately 380 to 760 nm. Collagen light occupies a range of frequencies just below that of infrared light, running from around 600 to 760 nm.

Effect of visible light on the production of collagen

Scientists have observed that exposure of the skin to yellow, orange and/or red light leads to higher production of collagen. This works as follows: In addition to collagen and elastin, the skin also contains fibroblasts. These are special cells that synthesize collagen. Light penetrates the skin to a depth of 10 mm, causing the fibroblasts to grow and divide. Production of collagen and elastin are stimulated in this manner, improving the elasticity of the skin

Paris Charles de Gaulle airport and Finnair offer passengers free light therapy

Aéroports de Paris, which operates Paris Charles de Gaulle and Paris Orly airports, has dveloped a reputation when it comes to establishing innovative partnerships with well-known brands in order to enhance the airport experience. Following earlier initiatives with Sony (free Playstation ‘poles’), Sony (free mini HD-cinema), Gulli (branded play areas) and Samsung (music pods), the airport has now teamed up with Philips to develop light therapy pods, which passengers can use for free.

Last month, Paris Charles de Gaulle installed three so-called ‘luminotherapy spaces’ at the airport’s Terminal 2E. Passengers can use the pod 15-minutes for free to fight their jet lag or combat the winter blues, caused by a lack of ultra-violet light during the winter. The cocoons are equipped with Philips GoLiTE BLU lamps in different colors, a relaxing leather chair, and passengers can watch a didactic video that shows the benefits of luminothérapie. Aéroports de Paris operator says it wil decide whether to expand the service to other terminals at the airport based on feedback of passengers using the pods.

At the end of 2007, Aéroports de Paris and Philips also partnered for a limited time to offer a similar serviceduring the winter season, while Philips has teamed with Westin Hotels & Resorts to offer guests at The Westin Chicago River North a stay in a specially designed Concept Room aimed at helping guests combat sleep troubles and jet lag.

Finnair light-emitting headsets
Meanwhile, Finnair just announced it will offer premium passengers on flights between Helsinki and Shanghai the ability to try out a “bright light headset” said to help passengers adapt to jet lag by channeling bright light into the brain via the ear canal. The bright light headsets, developed by Finish company Valkee, will be available free of charge to business class passengers during the month of April, before going on sale in-flight in May 2012.

Free holiday ‘light therapy’ at Paris airports

Light therapy at Paris’s Charles de Gaulle airport.

By Nicola Clark

Does holiday travel give you the blues, or simply wear you out?

It is said that as many as one in five people suffers from lack of exposure to daylight during the winter months. Meanwhile, a majority of air travelers experience some degree of jet lag when crossing three or more time zones. So with millions of passengers packing their bags and bracing themselves for the traditional year-end airport crush, it may be nice to know that someone, somewhere, at least, has given a little thought to the weary winter wanderer.

As of Dec. 20, and through the end of the month, Aéroports de Paris, the operator of the French capital’s two main airports — Charles de Gaulle and Orly – is offering free “light therapy” sessions to passengers in two of its departure lounges. Assuming you clear check-in and security with enough time to spare, a restorative visit to one of these igloo-shaped rest stations might just help make your holiday journey a little more bearable.

Located near boarding lounge E51 of Terminal 2E at Charles de Gaulle and near Gate R on the departures level of Orly’s West terminal are two dedicated light-therapy areas equipped with white-light emitting lamps, relaxation chairs, and a sound system playing soothing music. Specially trained staff offer visitors a brief explanation of the benefits of light therapy and also offer brief massages. Roving teams of light therapists will also offer “express” sessions elsewhere in the terminal.

All of this has a catch, of course. Aéroports de Paris is promoting a light-therapy service at a new airport boutique opening in January called Be Relax. The boutiques offer a range of so-called wellness services — including massage, oxygen therapy and manicures — and sell everything from bath products and scented candles to, you guessed it, light-therapy lamps.

Be Relax is making its debut at the two Paris airports, but plans are to open boutiques soon at several other airports, including Frankfurt International Airport, Milan’s Linate and Malpensa airports, Leonardo da Vinci Airport in Rome.

According to the Paris-based European Sleep Center , a one-hour light therapy session per day for the first three days of a long-haul trip will help the body adjust to the new local time. For optimal effect, the light exposure should take place in the afternoon for a westbound flight and in the morning for an eastbound flight.
